KARAGANDA MEDICAL UNIVERSITY (KMU)

ABOUT

Karaganda State Medical University (KSMU) was established in 1950. The university offers undergraduate, Master’s and PhD programs, as well as residency training and additional education programs. Nowadays the university consists of 4 faculties and 54 departments. There are more than 8 000 students including 1000 international students from 10 countries. KSMU has 90 partner universities in more than 35 countries. KSMU played its crucial and active role in the development of National Medical Curriculum and policy making in medical education and healthcare in Kazakhstan. Since 2005, the University has been continuously certified by National Quality Assurance UK and NQA – Russia to confirm ISO 9001-2008 standard in its undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programmes, research, management of
library and information resources. In 2014, one of the KSMU achievements was successful institutional accreditation by independent Kazakhstan Quality Assurance Agency. In 2010, KSMU signed Magna Charta Universitatum in Bologna (Italy). KSMU is included into AVICENNA Directory maintained by the University of Copenhagen in collaborate with the World Health Organization and the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). The university is an institutional member of such international organizations as Association of
Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME), Organization of PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System (ORPHEUS), European University Association (EUA). KSMU has participated in three Tempus projects and five Erasmus+ projects. Moreover, currently the university is grant holder
of the TAME Erasmus+ CBHE project. The University is implementing the Road Map on «Modernisation of the medical education” of the “Densaulyk” State Health Development Program for 2016-2019. One of the main goals of this program is sequential transition to autonomy of medical universities.

MSC in Business Administration (International & Strategy specialization) Senior manager. Will work as leader of the TRUNAK project. Expert in management of EU programs. Active since 1994 (Linköping University 1994-2004 and Lund University 2004-2016 – Sweden) in the coordination and implementation of Erasmus, Socrates Erasmus, LLP, Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, Erasmus+ Capacity Building and International Credit Mobility. Raushan Dosmagambetova

Doctor of medical sciences, Professor, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Karaganda Medical University. Under her guidance ten master’s and two PhD theses were defended. For over 10 years Raushan Sultanovna was a member of the Dissertation Council of PhD theses defense and was a reader and
reviewer of thesis researches. R.S. Dosmagambetova is an editorial board member of “Medicine and Ecology” magazine of Association of medical education in Europe. Since 1995, she is a general physician of higher category, the health official, an independent accredited expert of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan Republic. She is an author of monographs and study guides. Raushan Sultanovna has more than 260 publications

Anar Turmukhambetova

Professor, MD, Vice rector for Strategic Development, Science and International Cooperation at KSMU. She is the chief editor of the “Medicine and Ecology” magazine, the author of 1 monograph, 1 teaching guide, 2 patents and more than 50 publications. She is the member of European Society of Radiologists and the Association of Radiologists of Kazakhstan. For her services in the medicine and medical science development in the Republic of Kazakhstan she was awarded the badge “The high achiever in the
Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan” and the certificate of Merit from the Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Riklefs Viktor

MSC in Biophysics, Vice-rector for Academic Work at KMU, he got the academic degree of International Master of Health Professions Education from Maastricht University (Netherlands). Currently, he is the PhD candidate in Maastricht University at the School of Health Professions Education. He was the associate investigator in 3 research projects sponsored by the Ministry of
Education and Science and Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2001-2004, 2009, 2007-2009) and principal investigator in research project in 2012-2014 sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Science. He is a member of working group in 2 Tempus and Erasmus+ CBHE projects in 2013-2018 (virtual patients and problem-based learning). In 2001, he was the awardee of the Russian aerospace agency “Ecology and Space”; in 2008-2010 – the awardee of State scholarship for talented young researchers by Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan; in 2016 he got the Letter of Appreciation from the Ministry of Health and Social Development.

Natalya Tsay

Manager, accountant, economist. She has Certificate of Institute of Professional accountants of RK, member of the Chamber of professional accountants of Kazakhstan. Specialist on International Projects at the Karaganda Medical University since 2017. Responsible for the financial part of the project.

Head Coordinator, manage and operate the project together with the Management Team and the Financial officer, who will manage the economy (money transfer, conventions, invoices etc).

Manage the partnership and guarantee the development of the Project.
Participate in the monitoring, providing index and plans.
Participate in surveying and benchmarking activities.
Support the development of TRUNAK and ensuring that efforts are not duplicated.
Participate in the dissemination of the results from the project.

Contribute to the development of a model for the transition to autonomy, training modules.
Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of reform policies within TRUNAK project.
