About

ASU was established on June 14, 1950 as a teacher-training institute. In 1955 the Teachers Institute was transformed into the Pedagogical Institute and in 1994 in Atyrau University. ASU has passed the state certification, and acquired status of first regional university in the western Kazakhstan. In 2005, a quality system was implemented to in compliance with international standards in the field of education.

In 2009 ASU signed the Magna Charta of European Universities. In 2010 ASU became a full member of the Bologna Process. ASU is ranked 6th among the multidisciplinary universities of Kazakhstan.

The University provides education at Bachelor degree level (full-time, part-time and distance learning) in 46 specialties and at Master degree level in 14 specialties.

ASU employs more than 500 teachers, including 200 doctors and candidates of sciences, professors and associate professors.

ASU has a well-developed infrastructure, which includes five academic buildings, two student dormitories, the sports and cultural complex “Zhaiyk”, medical center, and research library.

Among other facilities ASU counts with a laboratory for preparation of electronic textbooks, a centre of information technology, a printing centre, a TV and radio centre, e-learning room, internet club, educational laboratories with modern technical equipment, computer rooms, etc. available for the provision of high-quality training of young people.

ASU’s goal is to become one of the leading universities in western Kazakhstan, which ensures the quality of training of high-qualified specialists according to international standards. ASU will contribute to the development of national innovation policies and objectives for the industrial development of the western region of Kazakhstan.

Members

Abzal Taltenov

Rector of Atyrau State University. He is highly qualified in the field of higher education management and administration. He held the positions of the First Vice-Rector of Toraigyrov Pavlodar State University (2004-2008), First Vice-Rector – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Semey state pedagogical institute (2008-11), Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of at Gumilyov Eurasian National University. He has contributed to the development of Higher Education system in Kazakhstan by his activity as an expert of Independent agency for accreditation and rating – Chairman of numerous Accreditation Commissions, active participation in international workshop «Mechanisms of Internationalization of Higher Education: Academic Mobility, Joint Educational Programs and International Cooperation» (Astana), Professional development program «Higher Education Leaders of Kazakhstan» (UK, London). Aigerim Shilibekova

The First Vice Rector – Vice Rector for Strategic Planning and International Relations at Atyrau State University. Dinara Tuyakova, PhD

Director of Strategic Development Department at Atyrau State University. She is a co-author of University’s strategy and also participated in developing of ASU’s internationalization strategy. She has an experience in coordination of Visiting professors program and international cooperation in the period of 2011 to 2012 at Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Astana. Role

WP 2 Subtask 2.2 Development of a basic model of autonomy, leader.
Seminar in Atyrau.
In the whole project:
– Contribute to the development of a model for the transition to autonomy, training modules.
– Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of reform policies within TRUNAK project.
-Participate in the monitoring of the project, providing index and plans.
-Participate in surveying and benchmarking activities.
-Take part in the Quality Assurance activities as a member of the Management Team.
-Will be a member of the Management Team (and take part in the overall management and decision-making processes.
-Participate in the dissemination of the results from the project.
